A Major Roadblock To Romance Many Couples Never Talk About

Does this obstacle hinder romance in your relationship?

You’re not alone.

I conducted a survey asking people about the challenges they face in keeping Romance Alive. I discovered five major obstacles.

In this series of posts, I’ll discuss each obstacle and offer simple suggestions to overcome it.

.About 38% of respondents (both male and female) felt their partner simply wasn’t interested in romance.

  • I’m taken for granted.
  • Things I do aren’t reciprocated.
  • My partner doesn’t think romance is important.
  • He/She once romanced me years ago. But now….

When romance disappears, emotional connection weakens. Resentment quietly replaces affection. Partners pull away emotionally. Connection frays.

Before assuming your partner doesn’t care, consider a few reasons they may seem uninterested.

  • Complacency: I don’t need to impress you anymore.
  • Differing expectations: What they do doesn’t feel romantic to me.
  • Lack of examples: No one demonstrated romance growing up.
  • Intimation: He/she feels uncertain about this romance thing.

Understanding why doesn’t eliminate your desire for romance.

How can you encourage romance in your relationship? Here are ideas to initiate change.

  • Avoid nagging or complaining. When attacked, a person’s natural response is to build barriers.
  • Think back to Romantic Moments from earlier years. Suggest revisiting them.
  • When your partner does anything remotely romantic, tell them how you felt and specifically why you enjoyed it.
  • Create simple Romantic Moments for your partner they specifically appreciate.

Romance rarely comes into or returns to a relationship overnight. Small, consistent actions like creating simple Romantic Moments, can result in remarkable relational dividends over time.

Don’t wait for your partner to take the first step. Modeling the romance you crave with simple Romantic Moments your partner enjoys can be a powerful way to enrich your relationship. Create romance. Strengthen your connection.

We are appreciative of your romance suggestions. We especially like the one where you suggested that we kiss each other for 10 seconds. Keep going with romance.

The timely arrival of the product was appreciated. I followed the suggestions and my wife was surprised and excited. I am not a real romantic person. What I received was just what the doctor ordered. You will be hearing from me before long for something else.

Never before had I experienced such a meeting! In 2 hours we covered elements of romance overlooked by our fast paced life styles. I thought it may be a seminar on sex, but I was pleasantly surprised to observe that romance, thought it may lead to a sexual encounter, is NOT sex but has a deepening & enriching effect on the relationship. I think this seminar should be taught to our young people, college ag & married adults.
