This One Trick Turns Blank Moments into Magic

Ever created or tried to create a painting “masterpiece”?

Recently, we went Splatter Painting. Because of the word “splatter,” I’d dug up clothes already festooned with evidence of painting my house. But my shoes were clean. Fortunately, the host gave us coveralls and booties. Relief.

After doing the Watusi dance into the coveralls, we entered the painting room. Walls displayed splotches, streaks, sprays and splatters of former artists. The host explained the tools: brush, squirter and paint-flicker.

Then she left me standing and staring at a blank canvas. I wanted to create something fun, memorable. Something….

I had a choice: stand there and stare. Or pick up a tool and start.

Sometimes, romancing your partner can feel like that. What do I do? What can I create to let her/him know how special they are to me? What if I mess up?

You have a choice. Worry. Let your mind wander down what-if paths with multiple forks and intersections. Compare each idea with a theoretical “perfect” Romantic Moment. Find something wrong with each idea. And let fear win.

Or stop trying to create that “near perfect” Romantic Moment and start the creation process with a single step. A single idea. It doesn’t have to be anything spectacular. A simple idea like going out for dinner, watching the moonrise, driving to a beach or lake shore.

It’s a place to start.

Now supplement that first idea with enhancements:

• A new restaurant with a view your partner would enjoy.
• Hire a limousine or rent a “fun” car for the drive.
• Add a stroll.

Soon a romantic time is taking shape. You’re creating a Romantic Moment for your partner. And it all started with a single, uncertain idea. A step towards your time together.

I picked up the paint-flicker, selected the blue paint. And started splattering my masterpiece into existence.

The timely arrival of the product was appreciated. I followed the suggestions and my wife was surprised and excited. I am not a real romantic person. What I received was just what the doctor ordered. You will be hearing from me before long for something else.

Never before had I experienced such a meeting! In 2 hours we covered elements of romance overlooked by our fast paced life styles. I thought it may be a seminar on sex, but I was pleasantly surprised to observe that romance, thought it may lead to a sexual encounter, is NOT sex but has a deepening & enriching effect on the relationship. I think this seminar should be taught to our young people, college ag & married adults.
