Is Uneven Romance a Red Flag—or a Chance to Grow Closer?

Major potholes marked the last year of their relationship road. They agreed they wanted to diminish their impact. During an extended discussion about the impacting issues, they agreed each would create a Romantic Moment for the other.

The lady volunteered to create the first for him.

Their neighbor agreed she could use their backyard. She strung twinkle lights and hung crepe hearts from the trellis. Candles floated in the pool. Her chiffon dress was alluring. The scent of jasmine complimented soft background music. She escorted him to the dinner she’d prepared in this romantic fairyland

His Romantic Moment for her began as he escorted her to their car, giving her a single rose. Their destination – a nice restaurant in town for an evening dining. Period.

Was this a recipe for a relationship disaster? Or a step forward in the road for relational recovery?

Often parties in a relationship are in different places romantically. One may have a better understanding about romancing the other. One may have a better grasp of using their partner’s romantic preference when creating Romantic Moments. But that doesn’t mean their relationship is in trouble. You’re just in different places.

Here’s my suggestion.

Commit to sharing as each learns how to bring more relationship-building romance into your partnership.

Confirm your joint commitment to the relationship.

Acknowledge you’re at different places in understanding romance.

Agree each can help the other with their knowledge of romance.

It’s not a problem when one understands romance better than the other. And over time, the other might come to understand more. Help each other how to create better Romantic Moments understand in a non-threatening way, Join together sharing insights with each other in your quest to have an outstanding relationship. One where romance keeps the flame of your relationship alive.

The timely arrival of the product was appreciated. I followed the suggestions and my wife was surprised and excited. I am not a real romantic person. What I received was just what the doctor ordered. You will be hearing from me before long for something else.

Never before had I experienced such a meeting! In 2 hours we covered elements of romance overlooked by our fast paced life styles. I thought it may be a seminar on sex, but I was pleasantly surprised to observe that romance, thought it may lead to a sexual encounter, is NOT sex but has a deepening & enriching effect on the relationship. I think this seminar should be taught to our young people, college ag & married adults.
