A First Date Miracle

Lee was coy about their dinner destination. “A tapas bar” was the only hint he gave Sharon. Great. Big deal.

Lee and Sharon had been together for several years. Their relationship seemed great. They played together. Traveled together. Got along well with families. But during the past couple months, a subtle rift seemed to be developing between them. Lee was concerned they’d fallen into The Roommate Syndrome.

Can you identify? Been together for years, maybe decades. You feel a fissure growing between you. You might have identified some of the symptoms. And you want to close the breach. Reconnect. Strengthen your bond.

This is where romance and Romantic Moments come in.

In relationships, romance and Romantic Moments are designed to remind your partner why you fell in love with each other. What was that initial attraction? The allure which set her/him apart from others you’d met.

This Romantic Moment specifically addresses this widening distance and can begin closing the divide. Set up a date, a Romantic Moment centered around where you first met, a restaurant you frequented during those early months, an activity you shared when your relationship was new.

Now, slow down.

Take time to reminisce about those early dates. Things you did. Funny stories. Blunders you endured. Let your partner know you’re concerned about the distance you feel developing. How much you value them in your life. And how you want to recover “us.” And let your partner express themselves. If the conversation gets deeper or becomes “challenging”, let them talk. Your goal is to reconnect, rejuvenate, and restore your relationship. Not “win” an argument.

The tapas bar was the location of Lee and Sharon’s first date. They put life on hold for a couple hours. Remembered why they were a great couple. And pledged to work together to erase the divide. If you’d like a more in-depth look at this, I invite you to visit my YouTube channel, @RomanceAlive, and watch the 2-part video on The Roommate Syndrome.

Romance Alive has grown over the years and it has been cool to see. Thanks for staying the course on this important work.

We are appreciative of your romance suggestions. We especially like the one where you suggested that we kiss each other for 10 seconds. Keep going with romance.

The timely arrival of the product was appreciated. I followed the suggestions and my wife was surprised and excited. I am not a real romantic person. What I received was just what the doctor ordered. You will be hearing from me before long for something else.

Never before had I experienced such a meeting! In 2 hours we covered elements of romance overlooked by our fast paced life styles. I thought it may be a seminar on sex, but I was pleasantly surprised to observe that romance, thought it may lead to a sexual encounter, is NOT sex but has a deepening & enriching effect on the relationship. I think this seminar should be taught to our young people, college ag & married adults.
