Has this happened to you?
Last night, as I relaxed, drifting towards peaceful dreamland, my mind proposed a subject for an upcoming Romantic Memo. I thought it such a great idea, I’ll remember it in the morning. So I didn’t bother with the inconvenience of pushing back the covers, turning on the light, and capturing the idea.
Big mistake. This morning, I don’t remember it. I’ve stressed trying to remember. Tried recreating the stream of thoughts leading to the idea. It’s gone. Evaporated like a forgotten dream.
Can you relate?
Your brain hands you a great idea. You inspect it for a moment. But you’re in the middle of something else, away from your desk or device. No worries. You’ll remember it.

What happens? The same thing that happened to me.
This also happens with ideas for romancing your partner. In the middle of a party, during a phone call, or in a meeting, something triggers a great Romantic Moment idea. It’s not convenient to write it down. You’ll remember it. Within minutes, the idea’s swallowed up in the river of thoughts flowing through your mind.
I’ve learned:
- Nothing guarantees I will remember an idea.
- I’ll probably forget it quickly.
- The idea must be recorded now.
- Squirrel!
Here’s what I do to help me remember. I have a file of ideas. If I’m not near my computer, I have a book or find a piece of paper to write it down. If needed, I send myself a text. It’s been a huge help. My suggestion. Find a way to immediately capture any Romantic Moment idea your mind gives you. Don’t trust your memory. Not only will you be able to remember the Romantic Moment idea, you’ll find your mind becoming more aware of ideas triggered by your surroundings. And your relationship will benefit.
