July 8. is celebrated in Russia as the Day of Family, Love, and Fidelity (Den’ sem’i, lyubvi i vernosti), established to honor the 13th-Centruy Orthodox saints Peter and Fevronia of Murom, patrons of marriage.
Introduced in 2008 as a traditional alternative to Valentine’s Day, this day emphasizes family values, featuring concerts, festivals, and the symbolic white daisy. Couples who have lived together for many years and built strong families are awarded the “For Love and Fidelity” medal. While February 14 is celebrated by many in Russia, it’s not the “official day.”
