Diamonds or a Snow Globe? The Romantic Answer Might Surprise You

Which of these gifts do you think is more romantic?

  • A diamond pendant necklace wrapped around two dozen roses.
  • A snow globe from town where the two of you got snowed in.

If you choose the necklace, I’d disagree.

In my soon coming online class, “Decode Your Romantic Preference Grouping,” I talk about the Romantic Preference Grouping of gifts. Some feel especially loved when their partner romances them through gifts. A truth I share, and this is important, size does not matter. In fact, smaller, less expensive gifts are usually preferred.

Let me explain.

Large gifts are just that – large. They can create unexpected pressure. The recipient feels overwhelmed. Worried about, “How can I give my partner something comparable.” And then there’s the question of where to put it if they want a romantic keepsake. In the storage closet collecting dust? The joy the recipient might receive is diminished. The gift turns into a romance killer.

But a small gift touches the heart at a deeper level. For instance, the snow globe sends a powerful message. “I was thinking about you and took time from my busy day to select and purchase this specific gift because I knew you’d like it.” It’s a small, intimate token of love. It creates a Romantic Moment.

The snow globe is also better because it carries memories of something experienced together. Many times, I’ve surreptitiously purchased a souvenir while traveling with my sweetie. After returning home, I’ve surprised her with a cruise ship ornament or coffee mug from our trip. It became a birthday or Christmas gift. When given, it stirred memories, bringing a smile and kiss.

When you romance him/her with a gift, remember this. Romance isn’t about the price or size of the gift. It’s the personal, specific message it carries. And smaller gifts often speak loudest. What about you? What gift might you purchase for your partner on your next getaway?

The timely arrival of the product was appreciated. I followed the suggestions and my wife was surprised and excited. I am not a real romantic person. What I received was just what the doctor ordered. You will be hearing from me before long for something else.

Never before had I experienced such a meeting! In 2 hours we covered elements of romance overlooked by our fast paced life styles. I thought it may be a seminar on sex, but I was pleasantly surprised to observe that romance, thought it may lead to a sexual encounter, is NOT sex but has a deepening & enriching effect on the relationship. I think this seminar should be taught to our young people, college ag & married adults.
